Lactose lac

Manufactured by Merck Group
Sourced in United States

Lactose (LAC) is a disaccharide sugar found in milk and dairy products. It is a key component in various laboratory applications, serving as a substrate for enzymatic reactions and microbial growth. Lactose provides a reliable source of carbohydrates for culturing and maintaining a wide range of microorganisms in controlled laboratory environments.

Bifidobacterium Growth on Lactose, Glucose, and HMO

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis ATCC 15697 and B. breve SC95 were routinely grown for 48 h anaerobically at 37 °C in the semisynthetic de Man-Rogosa-Sharpe (MRS) broth or MRS agar (Becton Dickinson) supplemented with 1 % (wt/vol) L-cysteine. Single colony isolates were inoculated into modified MRS (mMRS) without sugar supplemented with 2 % of filter-sterilized (wt/vol) lactose (LAC) (Sigma Aldrich), 2 % glucose (GLU) (Fisher) or 2 % purified human milk oligosaccharide mixture (HMO) as the sole carbon source. HMO was kindly provided by the laboratory of Dr. Bruce German (Department of Food Science and Technology, University of California, Davis) and purified according to the method described in Gnoth et al. [53 (link)].

Characterization of Apple Peel Polysaccharides

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Dried apple peel, as a by-product of apple chips, was obtained from Meiqingyuan Food Co. (Sichuan, China). A. oryzae (CICC 2339) in lyophilized powder form was acquired from China Center of Industrial Culture Collection (CICC) and it was kept at 4 °C until use. The standards of mannose (Man), rhamnose (Rha), galacturonic acid (GalA), glucose (Glc), galactose (Gal), xylose (Xyl), arabinose (Ara) and fucose (Fuc) and lactose (Lac) were purchased from Sigma Chemical Co. (St. Louis, MO, USA). High-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC)-grade chlorogenic acid, hyperin, isoquercitrin, ellagic acid, phloridzin, quercitrin, quercetin and Folin-Ciocalteu’s reagent was obtained from YuanyeBio-Technology Co., Ltd (Shanghai, China). 1-Phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone (PMP) was obtained from Adamas Reagent Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Acetonitrile and methanol of chromatography grade and other chemicals of analytical grade were purchased from Kelong Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd (Chengdu, China).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
