Immortalized lung (SALE) were obtained and propagated as previously described (Lundberg et al., 2002 (link)). Briefly, SALE cells were grown in SABM medium (CC-3119, Lonza) containing SingleQuot Kit Supplement and Growth Factors (CC-4124). HMLE cells were grown in MEBM medium (Lonza - CC-3151) supplemented with SingleQuot Kit Supplement and Growth Factors (CC-4136). PMEL cells were grown in TICVA medium containing −100 μM isobutylmethylxanthine IBMX (Sigma), 50 ng/ml 12-O-tetradeca-noyl-phorbol-13-acetate TPA (Sigma), 1 μM sodium vanadate Na3VO4, 1 mM N6, 2′-O-dibutyryladenosine 3:5-cyclic monophosphate dbcAMP (Sigma). All cells were incubated at 37 °C in 5% CO2.
