Methanol, ethanol, chloroform, dimethyl formamide, and potassium carbonate were purchased from DaeJung Chemicals & Metals Co. Ltd. (Shiheung, Korea) in South Korea. Acetic anhydride, acetic acid, and triethylamine were obtained from Sigma Aldrich. (Yongin, Korea)

Synthesis of Zr-TTSBI-TFTPN MOF

Synthesis of Chiral Heterocyclic Compounds

Solvents were dried and stored over microwave-activated 4 Å molecular sieves. 5,5′,6,6′-Tetrahydroxy-3,3,3′,3′-tetramethyl-1,1′-spirobisindane was purchased from Alfa Aesar (Karlsruhe, Germany), and 2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophtalonitrile was from Sigma-Aldrich (Madrid, Spain. 1-((1R, 2R)-2-Aminocyclohexyl)piperidine [40 (link)], 9,10-Dimethyl-9,10-ethano-9,10-dihydro-2,3,6,7-tetrahydroxy-anthracene [41 (link)], isothiocyanates 1 and 4 [42 (link)], and chiral hemisquarate 2 [43 (link)] were prepared as described in the literature. 1,3-Dicarbonyl compounds 5ac and trans-β-nitrostyrene 6 are commercially available, and they were used as received.

N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) (99%), toluene (anhydrous, 99.8%), potassium carbonate (anhydrous, 99.5%), chloroform (99.5%), n-hexane (anhydrous, ≥99%), methanol (99.5%), tetrahydrofuran (99.8%), and hydroxylamine (50 weight % solution in water, 99.999%) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (USA). CO2 and CH4 with 99.999% purity were obtained from Airgas Inc. (USA), whereas H2S (99.6% purity) and ternary gas mixture with a composition of 20 mol % H2S, 20 mol % CO2, and 60 mol % CH4 were supplied by Praxair Inc. (USA).
