All chemical reagents were used as received. Iron(iii) chloride hexahydrate (FeCl3·6H2O, 97%), 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (trimesic acid, H3BTC), 1,2-diaminoethane anhydrous (EDA, 98%), graphite, sulfuric acid (H2SO4, 95–98%), nitric acid (HNO3, 65–68%), phosphoric acid (H3PO4, 85%), hydrogen peroxide aqueous solution (H2O2, 30%) and potassium permanganate (KMnO4, 99.5%) were purchased from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent. MB (70%) was purchased from Aladdin Chemical Reagent. All chemicals were of analytical grade and were used without further purification. Water used in all experiments was distilled and deionized.

CYC (99%) and hydrogen peroxide aqueous solution (H2O2, 30%) were purchased from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co. Ltd.
