Colorimetric assay kit

Manufactured by Elabscience
Sourced in United States, China

The Colorimetric assay kit is a laboratory equipment designed to perform quantitative analysis of various analytes in a sample. It utilizes the principles of colorimetry, where the concentration of a substance is determined by the intensity of the color produced in a chemical reaction. The kit includes all the necessary reagents and consumables required to conduct the assay.

Renal functional assessment biomarkers such as serum creatinine (µmol/L), albumin (g/dL), urea (mg/dL) and uric acid (µmol/L) were evaluated using commercially available colorimetric assay kits (Elabscience Biotechnology Co. Ltd., Wuhan, China). BUN is calculated by using the following formulae:

Further, Urinary protein concentrations (mg/day) were evaluated by bicinchoninic acid (BCA) assay method using BSA as standard (Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., Waltham, MA, USA).

Colorimetric Assay for Plasma MDA

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Detection of the malondialdehyde (MDA) content can reflect the level of lipid peroxidation in cells and indirectly reflect the level of cellular damage. Colorimetric assay kits were used according to the manufacturer’s instructions (Elabscience, Houston, Texas, USA). Fresh blood samples were stored in a tube with anticoagulant and centrifuged at 14,000 rpm for 10 min at 4 °C. Clear plasma without any white blood cells and platelets were separated. The plasma samples were stored at −80 °C for up to a month. All of the samples were measured at an OD of 532 nm, with 1 cm optical path cuvette, and the values were given as nmol/mL.
The amount of MDA was calculated using the given formula:

Comprehensive Renal Biomarker Profiling

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The pH of urine was measured using pH test strips (Macherey‐Nagel GmbH & Co. KG, Düren, Germany). Urine osmolality was measured using a freezing point osmometer (Osmomat 3000, Gonotec GmbH, Berlin, Germany). All of the tests in plasma, urine and renal homogenates were done using standard ELISA or colorimetric assay kits. Biomarkers of renal function (urea and creatinine) and magnesium in plasma and uric acid and phosphorus in both urine and plasma were all measured using an automated machine (Mindray BS‐120 Chemistry Analyzer, Shenzhen Mindray Bio‐Medical Electronics Co., Shenzhen, China). Cysteine, sodium and potassium were measured using colorimetric assay kits from Elabscience (Houston, TX, USA). Calcium, oxalate, citrate and phosphate were estimated using colorimetric assay kits from BioVision (Milpitas, CA, USA).15

Antioxidant Responses in Plant Roots

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) levels, L-ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activity, and peroxidase (POD) activity in roots, and glutathione (GSH) levels in roots and shoots were measured using colorimetric assay kits (Elabscience, China), according to the manufacturer’s instructions. H2O2 levels, APX activity, POD activity, and GSH levels were expressed as mmoL/g FW, U/g FW, U/mg protein, and μmoL/mg protein, respectively.

Cardiac Tissue Homogenization and Biomarker Analysis

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The hearts were taken out, cleaned, and weighed before being sliced into apical and basal sections. Clots were removed by rinsing the basal side of the heart with ice-cold saline and then stored in a deep freeze (-80 C). Each part was weighed after melting and homogenized using an ultrasonic liquid processor with high intensity in 1:10 (w/v) 0.1-M phosphate-buffered saline (pH-7.4) containing 1% triton x-100 and protease-inhibitors cocktails [18 (link)]. The homogenate was centrifuged at 5,000 rpm at 4℃ for 10 minutes. The supernatants were utilized to evaluate malondialdehyde (MDA) level, caspase-3, and Bcl-2 using available ELISA kits and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) using colorimetric assay kits as directed by the manufacturer guidelines (Elabscience, U.S.A.).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
