Creatine kinase (CK) levels were assessed on a weekly basis until the age of 8 wk and on a biweekly basis from 10 until 32 wk. To this end, blood was collected via a small angled cut in the tail in a heparin-coated Microvettes CB 300 (Sarstedt, Nümbrecht, Germany) and stored on ice for a maximum of 2 h.
