To determine the measure the weight average MW (Mw), number average MW (Mn) and polydispersity index (Đ) values of polymers, An Agilent 1260 infinity II GPC equipped with a refractive index (RI) detector was utilized. For analysis, 10.0 mg of the polymer samples were dissolved in 1 mL of DMF containing with 0.1% LiBr, then the sample is vigorously vortexed for 1–3 min, and filtered through a 0.22 μm filter. DMF containing 0.1% LiBr was used to eluted from GPC columns (PolarGel-M Gard, 50 mm × 7.5 mm, and PolarGel-M, 300 mm × 7.5 mm, two in series) at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. The column temperature was maintained at 50 °C. The GPC column was calibrated using linear poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) standards with three defined MW.

Scaffold Degradation Analysis via GPC

Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) experiments were performed to determine variations in the molecular weight during scaffold degradation. This was conducted using an Agilent 1260 Infinity II GPC with two PLgel 5 μm MIXED-C columns (PS/DVB), a PLgel 5 μm guard column running at 35 °C, and a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The eluent used was tetrahydrofuran (THF) containing 2.0% v/v triethylamine and 0.05% w/v BHT inhibitor. The sampled amount was 100 μL, and the sample concentration was 3 mg/mL prepared by stirring overnight, followed by filtering through a PTFE syringe filter with a pore size of 0.45 μm. The refractive index detector (RID) detector used was operated at 35 °C. The GPC was calibrated using twelve EasiVial PS-H (2 mL) standards, with molecular weights equal to 162, 580, 1210, 4880, 10,330, 22,790, 75,050, 194,500, 479,200, 885,000, 3,152,000, and 6,570,000 g/mol. The average molecular weight (Mn) was calculated using the Agilent GPC/SEC software 1.3.

NMR and GPC Analysis of Polymers

1 H NMR was conducted on a Bruker Avance AM 600 MHz NMR instrument with CDCl 3 as a solvent at ambient temperature. The residual solvent peak was used as an internal standard. 16 scans were acquired. Data handling was conducted on MestreNova.

The system was equipped with 2 Â Agilent Varian PLGel 5 mm mixed D column. 0.1% w/v lithium bromide in dimethylformamide was used as the eluent, at a flow rate of 0.8 mL min À1 with the column temperature set at 30 1C. The system was calibrated with Agilent Easivial poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) standards with M n ranging from 370 to 364 000 g mol À1 (R 2 : 0.9998). All samples were prepared in dimethylformamide at a concentration of 2 mg mL À1 prior to analysis.
