Middlebrook 7h10 mb 7h10 agar

Manufactured by BD

Middlebrook 7H10 (MB 7H10) agar is a solid microbial culture medium used for the growth and isolation of mycobacteria, particularly Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It provides a nutritional environment that supports the cultivation of these slow-growing bacteria.

Mycobacterium Isolates from Zebrafish

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Isolates of Mycobacterium abscessus, Mycobacterium chelonae, Mycobacterium gordonae, and Mycobacterium peregrinum maintained in our culture collection were used. All were isolated from zebrafish facilities in the United States and were previously identified based on hsp65 gene sequencing as previously described (Kent et al. 2004 ; Poort et al. 2006 (link); Whipps et al. 2007a (link); Whipps et al. 2007b (link)). All isolates were grown at 28-30°C for seven days on solid-phase Middlebrook 7H10 (MB 7H10) agar (BD Biosciences 262710) supplemented with oleic albumin dextrose catalase (OADC, BD Biosciences 211886), prior to preparation for disinfection treatments.

Mycobacterium Isolate Identification and Characterization

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Isolates maintained in our culture collection are described in Table 1. All organisms have previously been identified based on hsp65 gene sequencing as described previously (Kent et al. 2004 (link); Poort et al. 2006 (link); Whipps et al. 2007a (link); Whipps et al. 2007b (link)). In addition to these isolates, reference cultures of rapidly growing Mycobacterium salmoniphilum (ATCC13758) and slow growing M. marinum (ATCC927) are also included in this study. All isolates were grown on solid-phase Middlebrook 7H10 (MB 7H10) agar (BD Biosciences 262710) supplemented with oleic albumin dextrose catalase (OADC, BD Biosciences 211886) at 28-30°C for seven (rapid-growing) or 14 (slow-growing) days prior to MIC testing.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
