Cell Viability Assay with Artemether

The CCK-8 assay was performed to assess cell viability. In brief, cells were inoculated in 96-well plates at a density of 8×103 cells/well, with different concentrations (20, 40, 80 and 160 µM) of artemether (Chemical Abstracts Service no. 71963-77-4; Toronto Research Chemicals) and incubated at 37°C for 24, 48 and 72 h, control without artemether. Following incubation, 10 µl CCK-8 reagent was added into each well and cells were cultured for another 2 h at 37°C. The absorbance in each well was measured at a wavelength of 450 nm using a microplate reader (BioTek Instruments, Inc.).
