sodium citrate (C6H5Na3O7), folic acid, N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS), 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide
(EDC), 1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride,
dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), 4% paraformaldehyde fixing solution, 0.25%
trypsin, and glutaraldehyde were purchased from Sinopharm Chemical
Reagent Co., Ltd. Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium
(DMEM), fetal bovine serum (FBS), and penicillin/streptomycin were
obtained from Gibco (Thermos Fisher Scientific). 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenylte-trazolium
bromide (MTT), 4′,6-diamidine-2′-phenylindole dihydro-chloride
(DAPI), 2′-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-5-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-2,5′-bi-1H-benzimidazole, trihydrochloride (Hoechst 33342), and propidium
iodide (PI) were purchased from Beijing Solarbio Bio-Tech Co. Ltd.
(China). All other reagents used in this research were of analytical
grade.

Colorimetric Detection of Biomolecules

Synthesis of Catalysts and Electrochemical CO2 Reduction

Nafion N-117 membrane (0.180 mm thick, ≥0.90 meg/g exchange capacity) was purchased from Alfa Aesar China Co., Ltd. 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMImBF4, purity >99%), 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (EMImBF4, purity >99%), 1-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMMImBF4, purity >99%), 1-butylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BImBF4, purity >99%), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate (BMImOTf, purity >99%) and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoroacetate (BMImCF3COO, purity >99%) were obtained from the Centre of Green Chemistry and Catalysis, Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Aqueous solutions were prepared with deionized water (Millipore 18.2 MΩ cm).

Analysis of Verapamil HCl Pharmaceuticals

The origin of CdAc2·2.5H2O (98.5%), ZnSO4·7H2O (99.5%), NaBH4 (96%), Na2S·9H2O (98%), Citric acid, Na2HPO4·12H2O and powdered tellurium was Sinopharm Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China) while mercaptopropanoic acid (99%) was purchased from Sigma–Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). The verapamil HCl standard powder with 99% purity was from Yuancheng Saichuan Technology, Wuhan, China.
The purified water used in the study was prepared using the Direct-Q water purification system (Millipore, Billerica, MA, USA). All other chemicals used were of analytical grade with high purity.
The following commercial brands of verapamil HCl were analyzed: Verapamil HCl tablets SR, 240 mg (Abbot Arzneimittel GmbH, Neustadn am Rübenberge, Germany), batch No. 1057894; and Verapamil injection 5 mg/2 mL (Harvest Pharmaceutical, Shanghai, China), batch No. 43151201.

Characterization of Quantum Dots using Spectroscopy

Fluorescence spectra were taken on a FL3C-111 TCSPC luminescence spectrometer equipped with a 20-kW xenon discharge lamp as a light source (Horiba, Kyoto, Japan). X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) spectra were taken on a Rigaku D/MAX2500V X-ray diffractometer (Rigaku, Tokyo, Japan). The microstructural features of the samples were characterized by a F200X (Semerfeld, Seattle, WA, USA) transmission electron microscope (TEM).
Thioglycolic acid (TGA), NaBH4, CdCl2·2.5H2O, Na2S·9H2O, and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt (EDTA) in analytical grade and various standard solution of metal ions (K+, Na+, Mg2+, Ba2+, Al3+, Mn2+, Fe3+, Ca2+, Hg2+, Pb2+, Cu2+, Ag+, Ni+, Zn2+, Cd2+) were purchased from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd. Analytically pure tris (hydroxymethyl) methyl aminomethane (Tris) was purchased from Aladdin company. Ultra-pure water was used in the whole experiment except for particular notations in text, and the resistivity of ultra-pure water is above 18 MΩ·cm (25 °C).
