Biometry Comparison: IOLMaster vs. LENSTAR

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
During the pre-operative examination, biometry was first performed using an IOLMaster V5.4 followed by assessment with the LENSTAR device. Patients were excluded if measurement of any parameter was not possible to obtain with either device. Five AL and ACD measurements, and three keratometry measurements, were taken using the IOLMaster, followed by five consecutive measurements with the LENSTAR. The same examiner, who was trained according to the manufacturer's recommendations, performed all the biometry testing.
The AcrySof SA60AT IOL (Alcon, Inc.) was used for the purpose of IOL power calculations and the target in each patient was emmetropia. The IOL powers were calculated with both biometers using five formulae: SRK II, SRK/T, Hoffer Q, Holladay, and Haigis.

Toric IOL Implantation Protocol

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All patients receiving a toric IOL had implantation of a T-Flex 623 T one piece hydrophilic acrylic IOL (Rayner Intraocular Lenses Ltd. East Sussex, England) and all patients receiving a non-toric IOL had AcrySof SA60AT IOL (Alcon Laboratories Inc). An experienced surgeon selected the appropriate IOL for all patients and in case of toric IOL, Rayner's online IOL calculator (Raytrace) was used to determine the IOL power and IOL alignment. Surgically induced astigmatism of 0.25 D was assumed in all cases.

Monofocal IOL Implantation Outcomes

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
This prospective study was performed at a private clinic. The study protocol adhered to the tenets of the Declaration of Helsinki. Informed consent was obtained from all patients and the test was performed free of charge.
The study included consecutive patients who underwent uneventful phacoemulsification within the bag Acrysof SA60AT IOL (Alcon) implantation. At postoperative month one, patients with uncorrected visual acuity of 20/25 or better who manifested refraction within ± 0.5 D spherical equivalent of target refraction were enrolled in the study. Patients with corneal opacity precluding high-quality images, history of trauma or anterior segment diseases causing pupil abnormality, IOL decentration, iridodonesis, pseudophacodonesis, and IOL tilt were excluded.
Acrysof SA60AT IOL is a monofocal foldable, single-piece posterior chamber acrylic lens with an asymmetric biconvex 6 mm optic, overall length of 13 mm, and a refractive index of 1.55. Available powers range from 6.0 to 30.0 D in 0.5 D increments and from 30 to 40 in 1D increments.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
