General laboratory chemicals and reagent solutions were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO). ELISA kits for IL-6 and TNF-α were purchased from Bio-legend. ELISA kit for CXCL1 was purchased from R&D systems. All antibodies were purchased from Santacruz unless otherwise specified. LPS was purchased from Sigma Aldrich. Colitis grade DSS (36,000–50,000 M.W) was purchased from MP Bio. UroA was custom synthesized as previously described23 (link).

Cytokine and Chemokine Quantification by ELISA

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
We performed ELISA for assessing the cytokine and chemokine levels. ELISA kits for TNF-α, IL-1β, and CCL2 (MCP1) were purchased from e-Bioscience, and the ELISA kit for CXCL1 was purchased from R&D Systems. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was obtained as described previously (Seo et al., 2010 (link)). Lungs from mice infected with HRV1B were dissected and homogenized. The levels of cytokines and chemokines in the lung homogenates were evaluated according to the manufacturer’s instructions (Seo et al., 2011 (link)). Absorbance was then read at 450 nm using SPECTRA MAX 340 (Molecular Devices).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
