Gd(NO3)3.6H2O, MnSO4.H2O, HAuCl4.4H2O, acetic anhydride, triethylamine, and all other chemicals as well as solvents were purchased from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Sodium borohydride was purchased from J&K Chemical Ltd. (Shanghai, China). DOTA-NHS was purchased from CheMatech (Dijon, France). The water used in all experiments was purified using a Milli-Q Plus185 water purification system (Millipore, Bedford, MA) with a resistivity greater than 18.2 MΩ cm.

Gd(NO3)3·6H2O, hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) were purchased from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co. Ltd., Beijing, People’s Republic of China Tetraeth-ylorthosilicate (TEOS), poly(dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride) (PDDA), 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC·HCl), and N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (Saint Louis, MO, USA). DNA oligos were synthesized and purified by Shanghai Sangon Biotechnology Co. Ltd. (Shanghai, People’s Republic of China); 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) was obtained from Sunshine Biotech. Co. Ltd. (Nanjing, People’s Republic of China).
