In some experiments, U0126 (an inhibitor of ERK activation, 10 μM; Sigma–Aldrich) or tin protoporphyrin IX (an inhibitor of HO-1, SnPP, 20 μM; Cayman Chemical, Ann Arbor, MI, USA) was added to the culture 1 h before CoPP treatment.
