Serum levels of ALT were measured using the Infinity ALT kit (Thermo Scientific). Hepatic triglyceride levels were measured using the Triglyceride Liquid Reagents Kit (Pointe Scientific). Serum levels of ethanol were measured using the Ethanol Assay Kit (BioVision). Serum levels of intestinal fatty-acid binding protein (IFABP) were measured using the iFABP ELISA kit (MyBioSource). Serum levels of zonulin were measured using the Human Zonulin ELISA Kit (MyBioSource)17 .

Serum Zonulin Assessment for Intestinal Permeability

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
We measured serum zonulin as a surrogate marker of intestinal permeability. Circulating plasma/serum zonulin levels were assessed using the Human Zonulin Elisa Kit (MyBiosource, San Diego, CA) [38 (link), 39 (link)]. This assay has high sensitivity (1 ng/ml) and excellent specificity for detection of zonulin, and only detects the active (uncleaved) form. The intra- and interassay coefficients of variation for these determinations were <10%.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
