Chicken egg ovalbumin ova grade 5

To study cysticercosis, mice were inoculated intraperitoneally (ip) with 10 Taenia crassiceps cestodes, and peritoneal cells and helminths were collected at different time intervals post infection for further analysis35 (link). To study the involvement of macrophage E-cadherin expression during granuloma formation in the lung, mice were injected intravenously (iv) with 5000 Schistosoma mansoni ova, were sacrificed 7 or 14 days later and the lungs were fixed and removed for further analysis (adapted from24 (link)).
To sensitize mice for allergic asthma, animals were injected ip at day 0 and 7 with 10 μg grade V chicken egg ovalbumin (OVA; Sigma) adsorbed on 1 mg Alum (Pierce, Rockford, IL) in PBS. Next, mice were challenged at day 14 and 15 (2× OVA, short term protocol) or at day 14, 15, 21 and 22 (4× OVA, long term protocol) for 30 min with aerosols, consisting of 1% grade III OVA in PBS46 (link). 20 h after the last challenge, mice were sacrificed and broncho-alveolar lavage (BAL) was performed by PBS rinsing of the lungs. The BAL fluid (BALF) was centrifuged and supernatant and cell pellets were collected for further analysis.

Mice were immunised i.p. with 20 µg chicken egg ovalbumin (OVA; grade V; Sigma-Aldrich) in 200 µl Alum (4 mg/ml in PBS; Imject Alum Adjuvant; ThermoScientific), at day 0, 7 and 14. Two weeks later, the mice were treated 3 times at daily intervals with aerosolised OVA (1% w/v OVA in PBS) for 20 min [25] (link). 24 h after the last treatment, the mice were either sacrificed and analysed, or infected with 200 pfu/mouse of PVM.
