Nanodrop 1000 8000 spectrophotometers

Manufactured by Thermo Fisher Scientific

The NanoDrop™ 1000/8000 spectrophotometers are compact instruments designed for the measurement of absorbance of small-volume samples. The NanoDrop™ 1000 measures sample volumes as low as 1 μL, while the NanoDrop™ 8000 can measure up to 8 samples simultaneously.

Microarray and RNA-seq Sample Preparation

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Quantity was verified using NanoDrop™ 1000/8000 spectrophotometers (Thermo Fisher Scientific). Quality and integrity of the total and the globin-reduced RNA were assessed with the HT RNA Assay Reagent kit (Perkin Elmer) using a LabChip GX bioanalyser (Caliper Life Sciences/Perkin Elmer) and assigned an RNA Quality Score (RQS) or RNA 6000 Pico kit (Agilent) using a BioAnalyzer 2100 (Agilent) and assigned an RNA Integrity (RIN) score. RNA with an RQS/RIN >6 was used to prepare samples for microarray or RNA-seq.
Supplementary Data 20 provides details of each sample provided including QC data such as the RIN, RNA conc, 260/280 ratio, # reads sequenced, # reads aligned to genome, # reads aligned to genes by HTSeq, etc.

Blood was collected in Tempus reagent (Life Technologies) at 1:2 ratio. Total RNA was extracted using the Tempus™ Spin RNA isolation kit (Thermo Fisher Scientific). Globin RNA was depleted from total RNA (1.5–2 µg) using the GLOBINclear™-Mouse/Rat Globin mRNA removal kit (Thermo Fisher Scientific). Lungs were collected in TRI-Reagent (Sigma-Aldrich). Total RNA was extracted using the RiboPure™ Kit (Ambion). RNA quantity was verified using NanoDrop™ 1000/8000 spectrophotometers (Thermo Fisher Scientific). Quality and integrity of the total and the globin-reduced RNA were assessed using a BioAnalyzer 2100 (Agilent).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
