Mevalonic acid lactone

Manufactured by Merck Group
Sourced in United States

Mevalonic acid lactone is a chemical compound used in laboratory settings. It is a cyclic ester derived from mevalonic acid, a key intermediate in the biosynthesis of various isoprenoid compounds. Mevalonic acid lactone serves as a versatile research tool for studies related to isoprenoid metabolism and signaling pathways.

Simvastatin and Cisplatin in C666-1 Cells

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Simvastatin, cisplatin and mevalonic acid lactone were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (Merck KGaA). For in vitro administration, Simvastatin was dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at a concentration of 50 mM and stored at −20°C as a stock solution. mevalonic acid lactone was dissolved in PBS at a concentration of 200 mM as stock solution. C666-1 was purchased from American Type Culture Collection (Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.) and cultured in RPMI-1640 (Corning Inc.) supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS; Gibco; Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.) and 1% penicillin/streptomycin (Sigma-Aldrich; Merck KGaA). Cells were cultured at 37°C in a humidified atmosphere of 5% CO2. In the signal pathway experiments, cells were pretreated with JNK inhibitor, SP6000125 (10 µM; BioSource; Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.), 4 h before Simvastatin treatment.

Lipid Biosynthesis Inhibitor Screening

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Fluvastatin, simvastatin, and MG132 were purchased from Calbiochem (San Diego, CA, USA). Mevalonic acid lactone (MVA), FPP, GGPP, squalene, ubiquinone, isopentenyladenine, and dolichol were purchased from Sigma (St. Louis, MO, USA). U0126 was purchased from Promega (Madison, WI, USA). Rapamycin, z-VAD-fmk, z-LEHDfmk, and z-DEVE-fmk were purchased form Wako (Osaka, Japan). These reagents were dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide. And then, these dissolved reagents were resuspended in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS; 0.05 M, pH 7.4) and filtrated through syringe filters (0.45 μm; IWAKI GLASS, Tokyo, Japan) before use.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
