Levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were determined with ELISA kits (BMS625 IL-6 rat Elisa kit and BMS 622 rat TNF-α kit, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waltham, MA, USA), following the manufacturer’s instructions. Values of IL-6 and TNF-α are expressed as per milligram protein.
