Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA, average Mw = 30,000–70,000 Da), IR820, and CAT were acquired from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). HA (Mw = 10,000 Da) was purchased from Dalian Meilun Biotechnology Co., LTD (Dalian, China). Coumarin-6 was purchased from Beijing Solarbio Science & Technology Co., Ltd (Beijing, China). The anti-CD44 antibody was purchased from Proteintech (Chicago, IL, USA). The anti-hypoxia inducing factor 1 alpha (HIF-1α) antibody was purchased from Immunoway Biotechnology (Newark, DE, USA). The carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) antibody was purchased from Abcam (Cambridge, UK). All other chemical reagents were of analytical grade and were used without further purification.

Antibody Reagents and Chemical Inhibitors

Rabbit polyclonal anti-SHARPIN antibody, anti-C-MYC antibody, anti-CD44 antibody, anti-β-catenin and mouse monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody were purchased from Proteintech. anti-β-catenin antibody and anti-β-Trcp1 antibody were obtained from Cell Signaling Technology (CST). Rabbit monoclonal and mouse monoclonal anti-HA tag, anti-Myc tag and anti-strep tag antibodies were from MBL. Anti-linear ubiquitin antibody (clone LUB9) was purchased from Merck Millipore. Normal mouse and rabbit anti-IgG antibodies were obtained from Beyotime. The detailed information of the antibodies was shown in Supplementary Table S1. Cycloheximide was obtained from APExBIO, and blasticidin was purchased from Solarbio.

Breast Cancer Cell Lines Cultivation

The human breast cancer cell lines ZR‐75‐1, MCF‐7 and MDA‐MB‐231 were obtained from the ATCC. ZR‐75‐1 cells and ZR‐75‐1/R cells were cultured in DMEM; MCF‐7 cells and MCF‐7/R cells were cultured in EMEM; and MDA‐MB‐231 cells were cultured in L‐15 medium. All culture media, containing 10% (v/v) foetal bovine serum, penicillin (200 U/mL) and streptomycin (100 μg/mL), were purchased from Gibco Life Technology (Grand Island, NY, USA). Paclitaxel (Taxol), E2, IBC and 3‐(4,5‐dimethylthiazol‐2‐yl)‐2,5‐diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) were obtained from Sigma (St. Louis, MO, USA). Antibodies against ERα and P‐gp were purchased from Abcam (Cambridge, MA, USA). The anti‐CD44 antibody was purchased from Proteintech (Proteintech Group, Chicago, IL, USA).
