Cholesterol, doxorubicin hydrochloride (Dox) and Dowex® 50WX4-400 were obtained from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis: MO). Methoxypolyethyleneglycol (Mw 2000)-distearylphosphatidylethanolamine (mPEG2000-DSPE) and hydrogenated soya phosphatidylcholine (HSPC) were supplied by Lipoid (Ludwigshafen: Germany). Acidified isopropyl alcohol (90% isopropanol/0.075 M HCl) was produced by the addition of 2.5 mL water and 7.5 mL HCl 1 M to 90 mL isopropanol (Merck; Darmstadt: Germany). Doxil® was obtained from Behestan Darou Company (Tehran, Iran).
