Spleen and Serum RNA Isolation

Approximately 50 mg of the frozen spleen was homogenized by brief sonication in ice, and total RNA was extracted using mirVana total RNA isolation kits (Life Technologies, Frederick, MD) following the manufacturer’s protocol. The quality and concentration of spleen and serum RNAs were assessed using the NanoDrop spectrophotometer (NanoDrop Technologies, Wilmington, DE).
