Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue was cut to 4 micron thickness and adhered to charged slides. All subsequent steps, including deparaffinizing, antigen retrieval, application of antibodies, antibody detection (DAB chromogen), and counterstaining were done on an automated system according to manufacturer recommendations (Ventana Benchmark Ultra, Ventana Medical Systems, Tucson, AZ).
