Fatty acids standards

Manufactured by Merck Group
Sourced in Germany

Fatty acids standards are reference materials used to identify and quantify the presence of specific fatty acids in various samples. They provide a known concentration of individual fatty acids that can be used to calibrate analytical instruments and validate analytical methods.

Fatty acids analysis protocol

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Methanol (cat no. 1.06018), chloroform (cat no. 34854), acetic acid from Merck, and SOCl3 from Sigma Aldrich were used. Double-distilled water was purchased from a Milli-Q Water System (Millipore, Billerica, MA, USA). Fatty acids standards were obtained from Sigma Aldrich, Neochema (Bodenheim, Germany), and Cayman (Ann Arbor, MI, USA).

Chloroform (cat no. 34854), methanol (cat no. 1.06018) and acetic acid were purchased from Merck. Boron trifluoride in methanol (cat no. B1252), NaCl (cat no. S3014) and 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol (BHT) (cat no. B1378) were supplied by Sigma-Aldrich. Double-distilled water was obtained from a Milli-Q Water System (Millipore, Billerica, MA, USA). Fatty acids standards were bought form Sigma-Aldrich, Neochema (Germany) and Cayman.

Mustard and Rice Bran Oil Extraction

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Mustard seeds were procured from local market then fresh and healthy mustard seeds were stored for oil extraction. Freshly milled rice bran, outer layer of the grain was collected from rice milling industry, Rajshahi, Bangladesh and immediately processed after milling for stabilization. Primarily sieved with 100 mesh size to separate husk and broken rice grain. All solvents and chemicals used were analytical, HPLC and GC grade. Fatty acids standards were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich.

Plasma Fatty Acid Analysis in Zellweger Syndrome

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Plasma samples were collected from 52 patients with ZS between 1994 and 2015 in the Laboratory of Biochemistry (Rabta Hospital, Tunis, Tunisia) and 60 from healthy age-and sex-matched controls. Blood was collected into heparinized tubes and maintained at 4 C. The plasma was then separated by centrifugation at 1500g for 10 minutes at 4 C, and then stored at À20 C until analysis. Fatty acids standards and potassium carbonate were purchased from Sigma (St. Louis, MO, USA). Acylchloride was purchased from Aldrich. Acetonitrile, n-hexane, chloroform, methanol, and other chemical reagents were of analytical grade and were of highest purity. The study was performed with the approval of the institutional ethics committee (Rabta University Health Center), and informed consent was obtained from parents.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
