Hen egg white lysozyme l6876

Manufactured by Merck Group
Sourced in United States

Hen egg-white lysozyme (L6876) is a purified enzyme derived from egg white. It is a lytic enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of 1,4-beta-linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in peptidoglycan, which is a major component of the cell walls of Gram-positive bacteria.

Hen Egg-White Lysozyme Characterization

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Hen egg-white lysozyme (L6876) purchased from Sigma-Aldrich, MO/USA was used for the research. It was used without further purification. Lysozyme solutions were prepared by dissolving protein powder in an aqueous NaCl solution with an ionic strength of 0.01 M or 0.15 M and pH = 7.5. The pH was established by adding small amounts of aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid. All other chemicals used in the study were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA. The experiments were performed at 298 K.

Lysozyme Amyloid Fibrillation Assay

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Hen egg white lysozyme (L6876) was obtained from Sigma-Aldrich (Saint Louis, MO, USA) and used directly. Sodium chloride (NaCl) with >99% purity was purchased from Sigma Aldrich (Saint Louis, MO, USA). Tannic acid in analytical grade was purchased from Aladdin (Shanghai, China). Hydrochloride acid (HCl) in analytical grade with a purity of 36–38% was purchased from Kemiou Chemical Reagent (Tianjin, China). Thioflavin T (ThT) was purchased from Acros (Geel, Belgium). No further purification was performed on all the chemicals. Deionized water with a resistivity of 18.2 MΩ·cm was obtained from a Millipore system (Billerica, MA, USA). Mica (muscovite) was obtained from a local vendor.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
