Standards for catechins and related compounds were used in this work. Catechins and other related compounds were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St Louis, Missouri, MO, USA): (+)-catechin (C), (−)-gallocatechin (GC), (−)-epigallocatechin (EGC), (−)-epicatechin (EC), (−)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), (−)-gallocatechin gallate (GCG), (−)-epicatechin gallate (ECG), gallic acid (GA), and caffeine (Caf.). HPLC-grade acetonitrile and methanol, including ethyl acetate, were supplied by Merck (Darmstadt, Germany). Analytical-grade acetic acid (Sigma-Aldrich) and orthophosphoric acid (BDH, Poole, U.K.) were also purchased. HPLC-grade water (18 MΩ) was prepared using a Millipore Milli-Q purification system (Millipore Corp. Bedford, MA, USA) and used to prepare all solutions.

Lithium chloride (97%), metformin hydrochloride (97%), phenyl biguanide hydrochloride (98%), phenformin hydrochloride (97%), tetraethylammonium chloride (TEA + , 99%), sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate (98%), and triethylamine (99.5%), bis(triphenylphosphoranylidene) ammonium chloride (BTPPA + Cl -, 97%) and potassium tetrakis(4-chlorophenylborate) (K + TPBCl -, 98%)
were purchased from Sigma Aldrich. Tetramethylammonium chloride (TMA + , 99%) was purchased from Fluka BioChemika. Sodium hydroxide (97%), ortho-phosphoric acid (85%), both from BDH Prolabo and hydrochloric acid (Merck, 37%) were used to adjust pH. All aqueous solutions were prepared in ultrapure water (18.2 M cm, Elga Water). HPLC-grade acetonitrile and 1, 2-dichloroethane (DCE)
were purchased from Sigma Aldrich. BTPPA + TPBCl -and TMA + TPBCl -were prepared by metathesis and dissolved in DCE according to the published procedure. 40

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
