Melt Electrowritten PCL Scaffolds

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
PCL (PC-12, Corbion, the Netherlands) was used as received and processed using a custom-built melt electrowriting printer50 (link). One gram of PCL was placed in an electrically heated (75 °C) syringe and pneumatically delivered to a 23 G nozzle using air (1.0 bar). This nozzle is positioned 6 mm above a collector, and a total of 5.5 kV is applied across this collector distance. Direct writing was performed using x/y linear stages and samples were used as sacrificial templates without post-processing.

Melt Electrowritten PCL Scaffolds

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All scaffolds were manufactured by melt electrowriting (MEW) using medical-grade PCL as previously described.30,32 (link) Briefly, polymer pellets (PC12, Corbion, Amsterdam, The Netherlands) were heated to 74 °C and 83 °C at the cartridge and needle locations within a blunt 23 G 2 mL syringe, respectively. The polymer was then extruded onto a programmable xy stage at a pressure of 1.2 bar, a voltage of 8.2 kV, a translational speed of 850 mm min−1 and a distance of 7.4 mm between the collector plate and the spinneret. The scaffolds were subsequently printed to consist of 50 layers in a 0/90° layering pattern. After fabrication, scaffolds were sectioned into 5 mm discs to fit inside wells of a 96-well tissue culture plate (TCP).

Blending PCL and β-TCP for Biomaterials

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
PCL (PC 12, Corbion Purac, Gorinchem, Netherlands) and β-TCP (7758-87-4, Premier Biomaterials, Tipperary, Ireland) were blended together using a melt process. PCL (7 g) was placed in glass container and melted by heating for 15 min at 110°C. Powdered β-TCP (3 g) was then added and the mix was blended by hand for 10 min.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
