LPL activity was determined with a 50 μl aliquot of culture medium after 30 min of treatment with 50 units of heparin using an LPL activity assay kit (Sigma) according to the manufacturer's instructions. Intracellular total lipase activity was measured using a lipase activity assay kit III (Sigma).

100mg B. odoriphaga collected at three developmental stages, respectively, was used to assay the activity of enzymes. There biological replicates were designed for this study. According to the NR annotation of 45 genes selected randomly in the common differential expression of genes among three comparisons, ten DEGs that could be expressed as eight functional enzymes were selected to validate the gene expression profiles. Pectate lyase (PEL) activity and glucose dehydrogenase (GLD) activity were assayed as described by Kovtunovych et al. [28 ] and Fender et al. [29 (link)], respectively. The activity of glutathione s-transferase (GST) was detected according to Glutathione S-Transferase Fluorescent Activity Kit (Enzo life science, USA). The assay of Carboxylesterase (CarE) activity referenced the methods of Zou et al. [30 (link)]. Alpha-Amylase Assay Kit (Abnova, USA), Lipase Activity Assay Kit III (Sigma, USA), Nitric Oxide Synthase Assay Kit (Antibodies-online, Germany), Fatty Acid Synthase assay Kit (Solarbio, China) were used to assayed the activity of alpha-amylase (AA), lipase (Lip), nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and fatty acid synthase (FAS).

Serum enzyme activities were determined using a commercially available kit. CETP enzyme activity was assayed using a cell-free assay according to the manufacturer’s protocol (Roar Biomedical).
LCAT activity assays were performed with an LCAT Activity Assay Kit (Fluorometric) from Cell Biolabs (Cat# STA-615). Whole-serum lipase activity was evaluated using Lipase Activity Assay Kit III from Sigma-Aldrich (Cat# MAK048), and PLTP activity assays were performed using PLTP Activity Assay Kit from Sigma-Aldrich (Cat# MAK108).

Quantifying Lipase and Protease Activities

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Total lipase activity was estimated using the fluorometric Lipase Activity Assay Kit III (Sigma-Aldrich). Total protease concentrations were estimated using the Pierce Fluorescent Protease Assay Kit (Thermo Fisher Scientific). In each case, fluorescence was measured using a Tecan Infinite200 plate spectrophotometer. Lipase and protease activity were also tested visually by agar diffusion assays (SI Appendix, SI Methods).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
