Calcein acetoxymethyl ester (Calcein-AM) is a fluorescent dye commonly used in cell biology and biochemistry. It is a cell-permeant compound that can be used to measure cell viability and proliferation. Calcein-AM is non-fluorescent until it enters a live cell and is hydrolyzed by intracellular esterases, producing a green fluorescent signal.
