Krebs-Högestätt solution was composed of the following components: NaCl (Sigma Aldrich, Germany), 119 mM; KCl (Sigma Aldrich, Germany), 3.0 mM; sodium dihydrogen phosphate, 1.2 mM (AppliChem, Germany); calcium chloride, 1.5 mM (AppliChem, Germany); magnesium chloride (Merck, Germany), 1.2 mM; sodium hydrogen phosphate (VWR International BVBA, Belgium), 15 mM; and glucose (Sigma Aldrich, Germany), 10 mM.
5-HT, PGF2a, and ACh were acquired from Sigma-Aldrich (Schnelldorf, Germany). LV was kindly provided by Jouko Levijoki, MSc (Pharm) of Orion Corporation, Orion Pharma (Espoo, Finland). All compounds were directly dissolved in distilled water or dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) on the day of each experiment. The selectivity of these compounds was described earlier.
