Cardiac function assessment in mice

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The in vivo cardiac function and the heart rate were assessed by transthoracic echocardiography (EUB-7500, Hitachi, Tokyo) in conscious mice as described previously19 (link),37 (link). Blood pressure data were obtained from the average of three-time measurements by the tail cuff method (MK-2000ST, Muromachi Kikai, Tokyo)18 (link).

Measuring Systolic BP in Mice

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Systolic blood pressure was measured in conscious mice (WT n = 12 vs Htra3 KO n = 12) by the tail-cuff system using MK-2000ST (Muromachi Kikai, Tokyo, Japan) according to the manufacturer’s protocol.

Monitoring Blood Flow During Aortic Clamping

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
For the measurement of blood flow before, during and after aortic clamp, we used a nonpreheating, noninvasive blood pressure, and heart rate monitor (MK-2000ST; Muromachi Kikai Co. Ltd). Using a cuff pulse sensor attached to tail arteries, we detected and measured the blood flow pattern using photoplethysmography. We measured the blood flow in 6 rats (CN:1, QN:2, CH:2, CN:1) from the induction of anesthesia to the time of death (Figure 2, B).

Citrus Fruit Juice Effects on Blood Pressure

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Male C57BL6 mice (CLEA, Tokyo, Japan) were divided into five groups as follows: 1) Control (water) (C), 2) 10% CU (CU10), 3) 40% CU (CU40), 4) 10% CI (CI10), and 5) 40% CI (CI40). The animals were housed in a room in which lighting was controlled (12 hours on and 12 hours off), and room temperature was kept at 25°C. They were given a standard diet (MF, Oriental Yeast Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan). After drinking juice ad libitum for 2 weeks from 8 weeks of age, cuff injury was induced by polyethylene cuff placement around the femoral artery. After 2 weeks of drinking citrus fruit juice, systolic blood pressure was measured by the tail-cuff method (MK-2000ST, Muromachi Kikai, Co. Ltd., Tokyo, Japan) as described previously [17 (link)].

Chronic C3G Supplementation Affects Blood Pressure

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
A separate group of male Wistar rats was fed a basal diet for 5 days to promote habituation. They were divided into the same two experimental groups, but treatments were repeated daily for 14 days. The vehicle group received 4 ml/kg 3% Tween 80 solution per day (n = 9) and the C3G group received 10 mg/kg C3G per day (n = 8). The mean blood pressure (MBP) was determined at three time points: before treatment, on day 7, and at the end of treatment (day 14). MBP was measured with the tail cuff method, using a MK-2000ST (Muromachi Kikai, Tokyo, Japan, Fig. 2A). After all measurements were completed, the rats were anesthetized with an intraperitoneal injection of a mixture of medetomidine (Nippon Zenyaku Kogyo Co., Ltd., Fukushima, Japan), midazolam (Astellas Pharma Inc., Tokyo, Japan), and butorphanol (Meiji Seika Pharma Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan) (2.5 ml/kg BW), as previously described.(20 (link)) The aorta was removed by dissection, frozen in liquid nitrogen, and stored at −80°C until analysis.

Murine Blood Pressure Measurement

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
After 13 wk on the diets, diastolic and systolic blood pressures and heart rate were measured using a tail-cuff system (MK-2000ST, Muromachi Kikai Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan) that uses a photoelectric sensor to detect blood flow in the tail. Mice were acclimated to the procedure for 7 consecutive days prior to blood pressure and heart rate recordings on day 8. For each mouse, at least 1 set of 10 measurements with 9 or more successful readings, was obtained.

Blood Pressure and Metabolic Markers

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Systolic blood pressure (SBP) was measured by the arm-cuff method (MK-2000ST, Muromachi
Kikai Co., Ltd. Tokyo, Japan). After the animals were fasted for 18 h, blood was obtained,
and blood glucose levels were determined using a standard glucometer (Antosense II, Daikin
Industries, Osaka, Japan).
Plasma was separated from the blood samples by centrifugation at 3,000 × g for 15 min at
4°C. Triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels were measured by
SRL Inc. (Tokyo, Japan).

Non-Invasive Blood Pressure Measurement

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The rats were placed in plastic restrainers, and a cuff with a pneumatic pulse sensor was attached to the tail and fixed with surgical tape. Blood pressure was recorded on a non-invasive rodent blood pressure monitor (MK-2000ST, Muromachi Kikai, Japan). Blood samples were collected from the tail vein and centrifuged at 1,000 × g for 10 min to separate the serum.

Aortic Root Diameter Measurement

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Systolic blood pressure was measured using a tail-cuff method (MK-2000ST; Muromachi Kikai). Ultrasonography was performed using the Vevo 2100 Imaging System (VisualSonics) while mice were anesthetized with 2.5% isoflurane. The luminal diameters of the aortic root were measured at the age of 8, 12, and 30 weeks by B-mode imaging.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
