Tail-Cuff Blood Pressure Measurement

Following the manufacturer’s instructions, we measured the BP using the tail-cuff method (BP-2010A System, Softron, Beijing, China). SBP and DBP were measured at baseline and after 2 and 4 weeks of intervention/treatment. The rats were acclimated before BP measurement. BP measurements were repeated three consecutive times for each rat to obtain the average value. If the animal showed an accelerated heart rate, indicating stress, then the BP was measured repeatedly on the same day. This method is improved on the basis of the research of Jie et al. [19 (link)].
