NMR spectra were recorded with a Bruker
AVANCE-500 spectrometer at a sample temperature of 298 K. NMR spectra were recorded in CDCl3 or CD3OD and calibrated using the trimethylsilyl signal as internal reference.
Ganglioside and oligosaccharide mass spectrometry analyses were performed in positive ESI-MS. MS spectra were recorded on a Thermo Quest Finnigan LCQTM DECA ion trap mass spectrometer, equipped with a Finnigan ESI interface; data were processed by
Finnigan Xcalibur software system (Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waltham, MA, USA).
All reactions were monitored by HPTLC on silica gel 60 plates.
