Fabrication of Composite Material Discs

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Five types of composite materials: Filtek Z250XT (Z250; 3M ESPE, Dental Products, Saint Paul, MN, USA), IPS Empress Direct (ED; Ivoclar Vivadent, Zurich, Switzerland), G-ænial (GA; GC Dental Products, Tokyo, Japan), Vit-l-escence (VL; Ultradent Products, South Jordan, UT, USA), and Ceram.X (CX; Dentsply; Konstanz, Germany) were used for the study (Table 1). Twenty discs (10 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness) from shade A2 of each resin material were fabricated by placing the material in a stainless-steel mold and removing excess material by placing a mylar strip followed by microscopic glass slides on either side of the mold and pressing gently.

Resin Composite Color Stability in Beverages

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Eighty composite disc-shaped samples (40 microhybrid and 40 nanohybrid) were prepared using a stainless steel mold with dimensions of 10 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness. The resin composite was placed into the mold and sandwiched between the translucent Mylar Strips and two thin glass slides. The samples were then light-cured for 40 s using a light-emitting diode unit (2300 mW/cm², Woodpecker O-Light 1 s Curing Light Unit, DTE Woodpecker, China). Following that, the samples were polished using the Super-Snap polishing system (Shofu Inc., Kyoto, Japan) and polishing discs as per the manufacturer’s instructions. After sample preparation, they were stored in distilled water for 24 h to complete their polymerization process and rehydration.
The resin-based composite material samples were divided into four group

Group 1: Distilled water

Group 2: Coca-Cola

Group 3: Pepsi

Group 4: Red Bull

Restorative materials to be evaluated for their color stability were Spectrum Composite (Dentsply DeTrey GmbH, Germany) and IPS Empress Direct (Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein).

In the present study a total of 244 different shades of 16 widely used and available brands of RBCs were analyzed. Materials included some of the most commonly used brand names for composites employed by dentists worldwide in the past 10 years: Miris ® 2 (Coltène-Whaledent, Altstätten, Switzerland), Esthet-X ® HD, Ceram-X ® Duo, Spectrum ® TPH3 (Dentsply DeTrey, Konstanz, Germany), EcuSphere ® (DMG Chemisch-Pharmazeutische Fabrik, Hamburg, Germany), ENAMEL Plus HFO/HRi ® (GDF, Rosbach, Germany), Venus ® , Venus ® Diamond, Charisma ® (Heraeus Kulzer, Hanau, Germany), Tetric EvoCeram ® , IPS Empress ® Direct (Ivoclar-Vivadent, Schaan, Lichtenstein), Filtek TM Supreme XT , Filtek TM Z250 (3M-Espe Dental Products, St. Paul, MN, USA), Amaris ® and Grandio ® (VOCO, Cuxhaven, Germany).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
