Phrodo green staphylococcus aureus bioparticles

Manufactured by Thermo Fisher Scientific
Sourced in United States

The PHrodo™ Green Staphylococcus aureus Bioparticles are fluorogenic probes designed to detect the phagocytosis of Staphylococcus aureus by cells. The bioparticles are non-fluorescent at neutral pH and become fluorescent upon acidification, such as within phagosomes or lysosomes.

Neutrophil Phagocytic Capacity and Priming Assessment

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Neutrophil phagocytic capacity was assessed using two independent methods: a light microscopic analysis of isolated neutrophils using zymosan particles pre-opsonized using autologous serum [10 (link), 11 (link)], and a flow cytometric analysis of whole blood using pHrodo Green Staphylococcus aureus Bioparticles® (Thermofisher, MA, USA) [12 (link)]. Neutrophil priming was assessed by quantifying expression of the cell surface markers CD11b and CD62L using a whole blood flow cytometric method as previously described [4 (link), 13 (link)].

Neutrophil Phagocytosis and Killing

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Phagocytosis by mucus-or blood-derived neutrophils was estimated using flow cytometric quantification of pHrodo® Green Staphylococcus aureus Bioparticles® (Thermofisher, MA, USA) taken up by neutrophils (see online supplement for greater detail and representative flow cytometry plots) (31). Neutrophils were also incubated with live Pseudomonas aeruginosa and bacterial killing estimated as a percentage of P. aeruginosa colony forming units (CFU), determined by serial dilution and incubation on Lennox B agar plates, compared to a no neutrophil control (see online supplement) (32).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
