All chemicals were analytical grade and used without further purification. Hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (C₁₉H₄₂NBr, CTAB), silver nitrate (AgNO₃), sodium borohydride (NaBH₄), l-ascorbic acid (C₆H₈O₆, AA), hydrochloric acid (HCl, 37 wt%) and benzotrifluoride (C₇H₅F₃, BTF) were purchased from Sigma Aldrich. Benzyl alcohol (C₇H₈O, BA), benzaldehyde (C₇H₆O, BAD) and sodium oleate (C₁₈H₃₃O₂Na, NaOL) were purchased from Aladdin. 4-Methylbenzyl alcohol (C₈H₁₀O), 4-methoxybenzyl alcohol (C₈H₁₀O₂), 4-chlorobenzyl alcohol (C₇H₇ClO), and 4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol (C₇H₈O₂) were supplied by Alfa Aesar. Cadmium acetate (C₄H₆O₄Cd, Cd(Ac)₂), thioacetamide (C₂H₅SN, TAA), chloroauric acid tetrahydrate (HAuCl₄·4H₂O), glycine acid (C₂H₅NO₂, Gly), anhydrous ethanol (C₂H₅OH, EtOH) and chloroplatinic acid hexahydrate (H₂PtCl₆·6H₂O) were obtained from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd (Shanghai, China). Deionized water used in the synthesis was obtained from local sources.
