Hp 5ms capillary column

Manufactured by PerkinElmer

The HP-5MS capillary column is a gas chromatography column designed for the separation and analysis of a wide range of organic compounds. It features a 5% phenyl-methylpolysiloxane stationary phase, which provides excellent separation and peak resolution for a variety of analytes. The column is available in various lengths and internal diameters to suit different analytical requirements.

Extraction and Analysis of Ocimum basilicum Essential Oil

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Leaves of Ocimum basilicum L. were purchased from local markets and authenticated in the herbarium of Faculty of Science, Cairo University and National Research Center, Egypt.
Extraction of Essential Oil: 1 kg of Ocimum basilicum L. leaves were subjected to hydrodistillation. The volatile oil then collected and dried in desiccators over anhydrous CaSO4. The volatile oil sample was kept in dark bottle for GC and GC/MS (mass spectrometry) analyses.
Analysis of the Essential Oil GC: The essential oil was analysed on Perkin-Elmer gas chromatograph model 8700, equipped with HP-5MS capillary column (30 m × 0.25 mm, film thickness 0.25 μm)programming from 80ºC (3 min) to 220ºC (10 min). Helium as a carrier gas (1.5 ml/min). Injection in split mode (1:100).
GC/MS: The essential oil was also analysed on Agilent-Technologies 6890N network gas chromatographic (GC) system (Little Falls, California, USA), equipped with HP-5 MS capillary column (30 m × 0.25 mm, film thickness 0.25 μm) programming from 80ºC (3 min) to 220ºC (10 min). Helium as a carrier gas (1.5 ml/min). Injection in split mode (1:100) [13 (link), 14 ].
Identification of Compounds: Compounds were identified by computer search using their mass spectra either with the known components or published spectra and by comparison of their retention indices with those of known compounds [15 , 16 ].

Gas Chromatography Analysis of Compounds

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Analytical gas chromatography was carried out on a Perkin-Elmer Sigma 115 gas chromatograph fitted with a HP-5 MS capillary column (30 m × 0.25 mm), 0.25 μm film thickness. Analysis was also run by using a fused silica HP Innowax polyethylenglycol capillary column (50 m × 0.20 mm), 0.20 μm thick film. Gas chromatography analysis has been performed as described in detail previously [21 (link)]. Identification of the compounds and components relative percentages was carried out as described in [21 (link)].

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
