Comparison of Treatment Effects

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Data were tested for normality (Shapiro-Wilk) and since data did not show normal distribution, Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare the different treatments. The assays were performed in triplicate, and the results were statistically analysed using Statistica Software 5.0 (Stat Soft, Tulsa, Oklahoma). A P value <0.05 was considered to indicate a statistically significant difference.

Genetic Polymorphisms and Chronic Otitis Media

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The frequencies of genotypes and alleles were determined by the gene counting method. To compare the obtained frequency distribution of genotypes in the control group with the expected values of the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, we applied the chi-square test. For test of independence between two categorical variables, the Pearson chi-square test was used. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed in order to assess if IL-1β and IL-1RA polymorphisms are independently associated with susceptibility to COM (expressed in terms of adjusted odds ratio [OR] and its 95% confidence interval [CI]). In all tests, the value of P<0.05 was considered significant. All statistical analyses were performed using Statistica software 5.0 (Statsoft Inc., Palo Alto, CA, USA). The statistical power of the study for the observed effect of polymorphism on susceptibility to COM was calculated using the power and sample size calculation (v3.0.43) [21 (link)].

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
