All chemicals used were of analytical grade. Ni(NO3)2·6H2O, Fe(NO3)3·9H2O, Zn(NO3)2·6H2O, NaOH, H2SO4 (95-98%), HCl (36-38%), C2H6O2 (ethylene glycol), and C2H5OH (ethanol) were purchased from Beijing Chemical Works, China. Cu(NO3)2·3H2O and Na2S2O8 were obtained from Tianjin Fuchen Chemical Reagents Factory, China. Co(NO3)2·6H2O and diclofenac sodium were purchased from Shanghai Macklin Biochemical Co. Ltd., China. Mn(NO3)2 (50% solution), C6H8O7·H2O (citric acid), C2H3NaO2·3H2O (NaAc), and Na2SO4 were obtained from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co. Ltd., China. AO7 was purchased from Tianjin Guangfu Fine Chemical Research Institute, China.

Quantitative PCR of Candida CDC42 Gene

The constructed plasmid pET21a-CaCDC42 containing the cdc42 gene of Candida albicans, which served as the template DNA, was recombined and prepared in the College of Life Science, Beijing Normal University, China. SYBR® Premix Ex Taq™ II containing Taq DNA polymerase catalyzing the elongation step of DNA replication, dNTPs, ROX Reference Dye II, DNA loading buffer, and SYBR Green II was purchased from Takara Bio Inc. (Dalian, China). The synthetic primers targeting cdc42 were provided by Sangon Biotech Co. Ltd. (Beijing, China) as follows: 5′-GTGATGGTGCCGTTGGTA-3′ (forward) and 5′-CCCTGTTCCTGGGTGATT-3′ (reverse), which produced a piece of DNA containing 397 bp. Thirteen heavy metal salts, ZnCl2, Pb(NO3)2, CdCl2·2.5H2O, Ni(NO3)2·6H2O, HgCl2, CrCl3, MnCl2, CuSO4, CoCl2, Ce(NO3)3, Sr(NO3)2, Bi(NO3)3 and K3Fe(CN)6 were obtained from Beijing Chemical Reagent Company (Beijing, China). Ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA), Ethidium bromide (EB), and agarose was from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, USA). The DNA replication reactions in vitro were fulfilled and monitored using the Real-time PCR System ABI7500 (Applied Biosystems™, USA).

ZrCl4 (≥98.0%), 2-aminoterephthalic acid (≥98.0%), mercury standard solution (AAS, 1 mg/mL Hg in 2–5% HNO3) and lead standard solution (AAS, 1 mg/mL Pb in 2–5% HNO3) were purchased from Alfa Aesar. CH3NCS (≥99.0%) and hydroxyethyl starch (98%) were purchased from XiYa Chemical (Linyi, China) Technology. Zn(NO3)2·6H2O (≥98.0%), Cu(NO3)2·3H2O (≥98.0%), FeCl3·6H2O (≥98.0%), DMF (A.R.), acetone (A.R.) and C2H5OH (A.R.) were purchased from Aladdin Industrial Corporation (Shanghai, China). Tetrahydrofuran, K2Cr2O7 (A.R.), CdO (≥99.999%), Ni(NO3)2·6H2O (A.R.), CaCO3 (A.R.), MgSO4 (A.R.), Mn(NO3)2 (50%, A.R.), THF (A.R.) and HF (≥40%, A.R.) were purchased from Beijing Chemical Works (Beijing, China). Deionized water was used throughout all experiments. PTFE filters (13 mm diameter with pore size of 0.22 μm) were purchased from ZiYang Economic and Trade Corporation (Changchun, China). Substrates used in this work (non-woven fabric made of polypropylene (NWF) with 0.42 mm thickness and a mass density of 120 g/m2) were purchased from commercial sources. All substrates were washed with acetone and dried at 60 °C for 3 h in a vacuum oven before use. All reagents and materials were used as received without further treatment.
