3 4 5 dimethylthiazol 2 yl 2 5 diphenyltetrazolium bromide mtt kit

Manufactured by Roche
Sourced in Germany

3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) kit is a colorimetric assay used to measure cell metabolic activity. The kit contains the MTT reagent, which is reduced by living cells to form a purple formazan product, and a solubilization solution to dissolve the formazan crystals. The absorbance of the resulting solution is proportional to the number of viable cells present in the sample.

Cell Line Characterization for Research

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The cell lines used in this study: HaCaT, immortalized human keratinocytes (cat. no. 300493; CLS Cell Lines Service GmbH, Eppelheim, Germany), 1BR3, human skin fibroblasts (cat. no. 90011801; European Collection of Authenticated Cell Cultures, Salisbury, UK), A375, human melanoma cells (ATCC® CRL-1619™), and B16 melanoma 4A5 cell line from mouse (ECACC; cat. no. 94042254) were acquired as frozen items and stored in liquid nitrogen until the experiment began. The 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) kit was purchased from Roche Diagnostics GmbH (Mannheim, Germany). The reagents used for cell culture: Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM) was provided from ATTC and trypsin/EDTA solution, phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), penicillin/streptomycin mixture, fetal calf serum (FCS) and Trypan blue solution were supplied by Sigma-Aldrich; Merck KGaA.

Olive Leaves Extraction and Cytotoxicity

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Solvents, methanol and ethanol, acetic acid, ammonium acetate were acquired from Merck (Darmstadt, Germany) while standard polyphenolic compounds and standard pentacyclic triterpenes were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (Germany), 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) kit from Roche (Germany), specific cell culture reagents (medium, antibiotic mixture, foetal bovine serum, etc.) from American Type Culture Collection (ATCC). Olive leaves were collected from Ksamil (Southern Albania), certified at the Pharmaceutical Botany Department, Faculty of Pharmacy, Timișoara, Romania, and then dried (at room temperature, away from light, for 10 days) and ground.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
