Pesticide Standards Characterization and Extraction

We purchased 186 pesticide reference material standards with purities greater than 95% from Sigma-Aldrich (Saint Louis, MO, USA) and Dr. Ehrenstorfer GmbH (Augsburg, Germany). MS-grade solvents, such as acetonitrile and ethyl acetate, were purchased from Merck Companies (Darmstadt, Germany); analytical grade acetic acid was obtained from Chengdu Kelong Chemical Reagent Company (Sichuan, China); analytical grade salts, such as sodium chloride (NaCl) and magnesium sulfate (MgSO4), were from Shanghai GuoYao Chemical Reagents (Shanghai, China). Graphitized Carbon Black (GCB, 40 μm), MWCNTs, and Primary Secondary Amine (PSA, 40 μm) were purchased from ANPEL Laboratory Technologies Inc. (Shanghai, China). EMR-Lipid was obtained from Agilent Technologies, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA, USA). Ultra-pure water was obtained using a MilliQ UF-Plus system (Millipore, Darmstadt, Germany) with a resistivity of at least 18.2 MΩ.cm at 25 °C.

Optimized Colorimetric Assay Reagents

Chemically pure NaOH (>99%) for AgNP synthesis and extra-pure grade H2SO4 were purchased from Chimmed, Russia. Chemically pure glacial acetic acid, extra-pure HCl (35–38 weight %), boric acid, and citric acid hydrate were purchased from Component-Reaktiv, Russia. Biotechnology-grade glycine (# Am-O167, >99%) was purchased from Helicon, Russia. Sodium tetraborate decahydrate (# 31457, 99.5%) was purchased from Fluka. All solutions were prepared using deionized water (18.2 MΩ·cm) from the MilliQ UF Plus system (Millipore, Molsheim, France).

Organometallic Complex Synthesis and Characterization

All manipulations for the preparation and handling of the organometallic complexes were carried out under air. All the solvents were used as received. Other commercially available chemicals, such as Co(BF4)2·6H2O, 1,2-ethanediamine,6-methylpicolinaldehyde, N-benzylethane-1,2-diamine, were purchased from local suppliers and used as received. Water was deionized with the Millipore Milli-Q UF Plus system. Glass carbon discs (3 mm), AgCl/Ag electrodes and platinum wire were purchased from CHI for electrochemical studies. Arrows are employed in the CV diagram to denote the initial scanning direction.
The NMR spectrum was acquired by employing the Varian INOVA 600 NMR spectrometer, an instrument manufactured by the renowned American company Varian. Mass spectra were recorded with HP 1100 HPL/ESI-DAD-MS and Waters/Micromass LC/Q-TOF-MS instruments. Elemental analyses were performed with a Thermoquest-Flash EA 1112 elemental analyzer. FTIR in situ was monitored by React IR 15 instrument equipped with a MCT detector and a Dsub AgXSiComp in situ probe.

Biomimetic Column Calibration Standards

Acetonitrile, ethanol, iso-propanol, methanol, formic acid, all HPLC grade; sodium hydroxide; ACS reagent (97.0%) pellets; sodium nitrate (≥99.0); phosphate-buffered saline tablets (0.01 M, 0.0027 M potassium chloride and 0.137 M sodium chloride, pH 7.4 at 25 °C); potassium phosphate monobasic and potassium phosphate dibasic (HPLC grade) were provided by Sigma-Aldrich. Ultra-pure water was obtained using a MilliQ UF-Plus system (Millipore, Darmstadt, Germany); resistivity MΩcm−1 >18 at 25 °C and TOC <5 ppb. The excipients included hydroxypropyl methylcellulose Methocel K100M Premium CR (Colorcon, Harleysville, PA, USA), magnesium stearate (Acros Organics, Princeton, NJ, USA), lactose monohydrate, stearic acid, wheat, rice and corn starch (Kemig, Zagreb, Croatia).

Fabrication of ZnO-BSA Biosensor

Anaerobic Experimental Procedures

Quantitative LCMS Analysis of Novel Compounds

WES-1 and WES-2 were synthesized as reported previously [15 (link)]. Compound AW-9a was prepared through the reaction of (E)-3-(3-(dimethylamino)acryloyl)-2H-chromen-2-one [21 (link)] with aniline. The purity of the prepared compounds was greater than 96%, as determined by HPLC analysis. Coumarin (IS) was purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA) with claimed purity of >99%. Formic acid (LC/MS grade), methanol, and acetonitrile (HPLC grade) were obtained from Fisher Scientific (Pittsburg, PA, USA). Ultra-pure water was obtained from MilliQ UF-Plus system (Millipore, Bedford, MA, USA); resistivity was maintained at 25 °C with TOC <5 ppb and >18 MΩ·cm−1. Blank human plasma samples were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA).

Residual Solvents Analysis: Comprehensive Characterization

Analytical standards of ethylene oxide (50 mg/mL in methanol) and 2-chloroethanol (2 mg/mL in methanol) were available in ready-to-use solutions from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). Gluten Detection Kit (Gluten-Tec competitive ELISA) was obtained from EuroProxima B.V. (Arnhem, the Netherlands). Ultra-pure water was obtained using a MilliQ UF-Plus system (resistivity MΩcm−1 > 18 at 25 °C and TOC < 5 ppb) from Millipore (Darmstadt, Germany).
