Primary human pulmonary arterial endothelial cells (PAECs) and human pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells were grown in basal endothelial growth medium-2 and smooth muscle cell growth medium-2 supplemented with BulletKit (Lonza, Basel, Switzerland), respectively. All cells were cultured at 37°C in 95% air and 5% CO2. Experiments were performed at passages 5 to 10.
