Tensile Properties of PBS and PBSA Bioplastics

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
In the experiments, the commercially available polybutylene succinate (PBS) Bionolle 1020 MD and the polybutylene succinate adipate (PBSA) copolymer Bionolle 3020 MD were purchased from Showa Denko K.K. (Tokyo, Japan). For the tensile test, the samples were formed into dog-bone shaped specimens by the use of an injection molding machine (Allrounder 420C, Arburg, Loßburg, Germany) according to the ISO-527-2-1A standard. The polymer materials were formed at 180 °C (PBS, 1020 MD) and 170 °C (PBSA, 3020 MD).

Biodegradation of Biopolymer Emulsions

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Polybutylene succinate (PBS) and polybutylene succinate-co-adipate (PBSA) under the trade names Bionolle 1020MD and Bionolle 3020MD, respectively, were purchased from Showa Denko K.K. (Japan). Polycaprolactone (PCL) was obtained from TRESNO (Poland). Chemicals used to prepare the culture media and cartridges for ion-exchange chromatography Bio-Scale Mini UNOsphere Q (strong anion exchanger) 5 mL and 1 mL, Bio-Scale Mini UNOsphere S (strong cation exchanger) 5 mL and 1 mL (GE Healthcare, Sweden) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (Germany). 0.5% biopolymer emulsions were prepared as previously described (Urbanek et al. 2021 (link)) and used in plate and turbidimetric assays to determine the biodegradation activity at each step of the purification procedure.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
