AP5, GM 6001, UK 356618, and SB 3CT were obtained from Tocris Cookson (Bristol, UK). glycine and AP5 were dissolved in distilled water. CNQX, GM 6001, UK 356618, MMP-9 inhibitor I, and SB 3CT were dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide. PTX was dissolved in ethanol. All of these drugs were diluted from the stock solutions to the final desired concentration in the ACSF before immediate using. The dimethyl sulfoxide diluted in ACSF had no effect on basal synaptic transmission and plasticity.
