Biomarkers of Inflammation and Oxidative Stress in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Venous blood samples were collected from patients and control subjects after 10-12 hours of overnight fasting under complete aseptic conditions. Complete blood count, random blood glucose, and ESR were determined. The serum was separated within one hour of collection. Lipid profile and rheumatoid factor (RF), CRP, anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibodies, urea, and creatinine were measured for patients and control subjects. The rest of the serum was stored at -80˚C until further analysis. The level of serum VCAM-1 was measured by Human VCAM-1 PicoKine™ ELISA Kit (Boster Biological Technology, USA, Catalog number EK0537) according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Total antioxidant capacity and MDA were measured in the serum using colorimetric kits (Biodiagnostic Company, Dokki, Giza, Egypt). The atherogenic index was calculated according to the following formula: Log [triglycrides (TG)/high-density lipoprotein (HDL)].17 (link)

Quantifying Inflammatory Markers in Perfusates

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Perfusates were thawed and briefly centrifuged. VCAM1 was measured by a Human VCAM-1 Picokine™ ELISA kit (Boster Biological Technology Co., Ltd., Pleasanton, CA), ICAM1 by the Human ICAM-1/CD54 allele-specific Quantikine ELISA kit (R&D Systems, Inc., Minneapolis, MN) and IL-6 by the LEGEND MAX™ Human IL-6 ELISA kit (BioLegend, San Diego, CA) according to each manufacturer’s instructions. IL-1β, CXCL8, CXCL10 and TNFα were assessed with a Human ProcartaPlex™ Mix&Match 4-plex (ThermoFischer Scientific, Waltham, MA) using a MagPix instrument (Luminex, Austin, TX) and the data were analyzed with the Bio-Plex Manager software (Bio-Rad, Hercules, CA).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
