C57BL/10 (no. 000476), mdx mice (C57BL/10ScSn-Dmdmdx/J) (no. 001801), and mdx mice in the DBA2/J background (D2-mdx) (no. 013141) were obtained from The Jackson Laboratory. CD45.1 congenic mice (no. 002014) were also obtained from The Jackson Laboratory and crossed with mdx mice at the UCI. B6A/J (no. 012767) and C57BL/6 mice (no. 000664) were bred in vivariums at Children’s National Hospital. VCP (77 (link)) and double homeobox 4 (DUX4) (78 (link)) mice were provided by collaborators at the UCI and Ohio State University, respectively. Animal experiments were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of UCI and performed under Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee guidelines.

Male C57 mdx (n = 12), C57 WT (n = 12), D2 mdx (n = 12), and D2 WT (n = 12) mice were purchased from Jackson Laboratories at 7–8 weeks of age. They were acclimated and housed in Brock University’s Animal Facility, in an environmentally controlled room with a standard 12:12 h light-dark cycle and allowed access to food and water ad libitum. After the mice reached 9–10 weeks of age, they were euthanized via cervical dislocation under general anesthetic (vaporized isoflurane) and their tissues were collected.

WT (DBA/2J strain; stock number 000671) and D2-mdx (DMD model of DBA/2J; stock number 013141) one month old male mice were originally purchased from Jackson Labs (Bar Harbor, ME, USA) and maintained at UAB under standard housing and feeding conditions (IACUC protocol 21485). All mice were housed under sterile, pathogen-free conditions with ad libitum access to food and water.

Muscular Dystrophy Mouse Model Characterization

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Male C57 mdx, C57 WT, D2 mdx, and D2 WT mice (n = 6 group) were purchased at 6-7 weeks of age from Jackson Laboratories. The mice were acclimated and housed in Brock University's Animal Facility, in an environmentally controlled room with a standard 12:12 hour light-dark cycle. The mice were allowed access to food and water ad libitum. After the mice reached 8-10 weeks of age, they were euthanized via exsanguination under general anesthetic (vaporized isoflurane) and their muscles and serum were collected. All animal procedures were reviewed and approved by the Animal Care Committee of Brock University and followed the guidelines of the Canadian Council on Animal Care (AUP 17-06-03).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
