Yeast extract powder

Manufactured by Merck Group
Sourced in United States

Yeast extract powder is a dry, granular product derived from the autolysis or controlled hydrolysis of yeast cells. It contains a variety of water-soluble vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that are essential for the growth and fermentation of microorganisms in laboratory settings. The product serves as a natural source of nutrients for the cultivation of various microbial species, including bacteria, yeasts, and fungi.

Hesperetin-7-O-glucoside, prunin, and isoquercitrin were prepared in our laboratory (Ye H. et al., 2022 (link); Hangzhou, China). Hesperidin, hesperetin, naringin, naringenin, rutin, and quercetin were obtained from Aladdin Reagent Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). Yeast extract powder, tryptone, crotonic acid, KH2PO4, K2HPO4, heme, MgSO4, NaCl, CaCl2, and L-cysteine were purchased from Sigma (Missouri, United States).

UCP (NaYF4:Yb3+/Er3+), with a diameter of about 50 nm, was obtained from Shanghai Kerune Phosphor Technology Co. Ltd (Shanghai, China). The peaks of its excitation and emission spectra were 980 nm and 541.5 nm, respectively. Nitrocellulose membrane (SHF 1350225) and glass fibre (GFCP20300) were purchased from Millipore Corp. (Bedford, MA, USA). Papers (nos 470 and 903) used to make the sample pad and absorbent pad were obtained from Schleicher and Schuell, Inc. (Keene, NH, USA). The laminated cards and plastic cartridges of the TC-UPT-LF disc were designed by our group and manufactured by Shanghai Liangxin Biotechnology Co. (Shanghai, China) and Shenzhen Jincanhua Industry Co. (Shenzhen, China), respectively.
The reagents, including tryptone, yeast extract powder, NaCl, tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, HCl, Na2HPO4, KH2PO4, and SDS were all of analytical grade and purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). Defatted milk powder was obtained from a local supermarket.

Drosophila Larvae Acephate Toxicity

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Larvae of Drosophila melanogaster were used as experimental organism to assess the toxicological impact of Acephate on hemocyte abundance. Larvae were reared in Standard Drosophila medium (SDM) following the established laboratory rearing techniques (after Dutta et al., 2014 ; and Podder et al., 2012 ). SDM ingredients included corn meal, sucrose (SRL India), agar agar (Merck, India) and yeast extract powder (Merck, India). Nepagin (Supelco, USA) and Propionic acid (Himedia, India) were added for their antifungal properties.

Fungal Biomass Production in Shake Flask

The isolates were cultivated in shake flask system in yeast extract sucrose (YES) broth [0.4% yeast extract powder (Merck), 2% sucrose, supplemented with 0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4) and 0.05% magnesium sulfate (MgSO4)]. The pH of the medium was adjusted to 5.5 before sterilization with an autoclave at 121 °C for 15 min. The flask was inoculated with fungal agar plugs of 6 mm in diameter excised from the periphery of 7 days old culture on PDA medium. The opening of the flasks was blocked with autoclaved cotton stoppers then covered with aluminum foil to prevent contamination. The flasks were incubated at 30 °C with a rotational speed of 120 rpm (revolutions per minute) in a rotatory shaker for 20 days.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
