Nifedipine

Manufactured by Santa Cruz Biotechnology
Sourced in United States

Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker used as a laboratory reagent. It functions by inhibiting the movement of calcium ions through calcium channels, which is a key process in various cellular and physiological functions.

Tumor Growth Inhibition in nu/nu Mice

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Female 6–7 weeks old nu/nu immunodeficient mice were injected subcutaneously with 107 S462TY cells in 0.1 ml 30% Matrigel (BD Biosciences)/PBS. Treatment started when the average tumor size reached 100 mm3. Nifedipine (Santa Cruz) was prepared as a suspension in aqueous 0.5% hypromellose/0.2% Tween 80 and administrated by daily gavage at 50 mg/kg. Norcantharidin (Santa Cruz) was formulated in PBS and IP injected at 10 mg/kg/day. Tumors were measured with a caliper every tree days. Mice were sacrificed when tumor size reached 10% of body weight, tumors were isolated and weighted.

Protein Hydrolysates and Receptor Modulators

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Protein hydrolysates (casein: n°82303; meat: n°82962; pea: n°96174), lactisole, 4aminomethylbenzoic acid (AMBA) and probenecid were obtained from Sigma (St. Louis, USA). NPS-2143, tetrodotoxin (TTX) and nifedipine were purchased from Santa Cruz Biotechnology (Dallas, USA), Alomone labs (Jerusalem, Israel) and Tocris Bioscience (Ellisville, USA), respectively. For NPS-2143 and lactisole, stock solutions were made in DMSO and further dilutions were made in Krebs-Ringer buffer resulting in a final concentration of 0.00125% DMSO.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
