Hippocampal Volume and Attention Correlates

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
We carried out partial correlation analyses to investigate associations of hippocampal rGMVs with visual and auditory attention-related clinical variables [covariates: age, sex, total intracranial volume (TIV), and IQ].
A threshold false discovery rate (FDR) = 0.2 was determined to be significant for addressing multiple comparison issues (i.e., FDR = 0.2 or less for significance) (Genovese et al., 2002 (link)). Only among brain areas showing significance does FDR thresholding optimize the expected proportion of false positives (Genovese et al., 2002 (link)). FDR levels in the range of 0.1–0.2 are practically and originally known to be acceptable, as they have been applied in several neuroimaging studies (Genovese et al., 2002 (link); Molteni et al., 2017 (link); Gordon et al., 2018 (link); Yu et al., 2018 (link); Jung et al., 2019 (link)). All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 20.0 for Windows (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) and MATLAB-based custom software (MathWorks, Sherborn, MA, USA).

Partial Correlation Analysis of Sleep Disturbances

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All statistical analyses were performed using MATLAB-based custom software (MathWorks, Sherborn, MA, USA) and SPSS 20.0 for Windows (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Partial correlation analyses were carried out to assess which relevant covariates established by the previous literature were associated with sleep disturbances. The factors include the participant’s age, sex, TIV, and caffeine consumption15 (link),17 (link),74 (link). As a next step, we performed partial correlation analyses (covariates; age, sex, and TIV) to investigate associations of rGMVs with the severity of sleep disturbances. A false discovery rate (FDR) threshold of <0.2 was determined to be significant for addressing multiple comparison issues78 (link). FDR thresholding controls the expected proportion of false positives only among brain regions showing significance78 (link). Although conservative levels of FDR (e.g., 0.01–0.05) can be used in neuroimaging studies, FDR control levels in the range of 0.1–0.2 are originally and practically known to be acceptable and have been applied in several neuroimaging studies33 (link),78 (link),79 (link),88 ,89 . FDR corrected p-values were calculated by using spm_P_FDR.m with all regional p-value inputs, which is a MATLAB code included in the SPM toolbox.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
