Novozym 435 (N435, Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) immobilized on acrylic resin, ≥5000 U g−1), 1,4‐butanediol (1,4‐BDO, 99 %), 1,6‐hexanediol (1,6‐HDO, 99 %), 1,8‐octanediol (1,8‐ODO, 98 %), 1,10‐decanediol (1,10‐DDO, 98 %), 1,12‐dodecanediol (1,12‐DODO, 99 %), diethyl succinate (99 %), diethyl adipate (99 %), diethyl sebacate (≥98 %), deuterated chloroform (CDCl3, 99.8 atom% D), chloroform (CHCl3, Chromasolv HPLC, ≥99.8 %, amylene stabilized) and diphenyl ether (99 %) were purchased from Sigma–Aldrich. Dimethyl 2,5‐furandicarboxylate (DMFDCA, 97 %) was purchased from Fluorochem UK. Diethyl dodecanedioate (≥95 %) was purchased from TCI Europe. Diethyl suberate (99 %) was purchased from ABCR. 2,5‐Bis(hydroxymethyl)furan (BHMF, ≥98 %) was purchased from Apollo Scientific. Chloroform (CHCl3, ChromAR HPLC, ethanol stabilized) and n‐hexane (n‐Hx, 99 %) were obtained from Macron. Absolute methanol (MeOH, AR) was obtained from Biosolve Chemicals. N435 was predried as reported previously.5b diphenyl ether was distilled at 140 °C under reduced pressure and stored with activated 4 Å molecular sieves before use. All other chemicals were used as received.

from Sigma-Aldrich. Toluene (anhydrous, 99.8%) was purchased from
Alfa Aesar. Dimethyl 2,5-furandicarboxylate (2,5-DMFDCA, 97%) was
purchased from Fluorochem UK. Absolute methanol (MeOH, AR grade) was
obtained from Biosolve Chemicals. 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-propanol
(HFIP, ≥99%) was acquired from TCI Europe. Dithranol (≥98%)
was purchased from Fluka.
N435 was predried, as reported previously.33 (link) Dimethyl 2,4-furandicarboxylate (2,4-DMFDCA)
was synthesized using a previously described procedure.8 (link) The molecular sieves (4 Å) were preactivated
at 200 °C. All of the other chemicals were used as received.

(DODA, 99%), DETA (reagent plus, 99%), 1,2-bis(3-aminopropylamino)
ethane (EDDA, technical grade, 94%), toluene (anhydrous, 99, 8%),
formic acid (puriss, 98+%), molecular sieves (4 Å), dimethyl
sulfoxide-d6 (DMSO-d6, 99, 5 atom %D), and potassium trifluoroacetate (KTFA, 98%)
were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich. Dimethyl 2,5-furandicarboxylate
(DMFDCA, 97%) was purchased from Fluorochem UK. 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propanol
(HFIP, 99%) was purchased from TCI Europe. Dithranol (98+%) was purchased
from Fluka. Tertrahydrofuran (THF, stabilized with BHT, pro analyze)
was purchased from Boom BV. 2,5-Dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB, 98–100%)
was purchased from ThermoFisher scientific.
N435 was predried
as reported previously,40 (link) and the molecular
sieves were preactivated at 200 °C in vacuo. All of the other
chemicals were used without further purification.

Biocatalytic Synthesis of Polyesters

The following chemicals were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (Poznan, Poland): 1,6-hexanediol (HDO; ≥99%), 1,12-dodecanediol (DDDO; ≥99%), diphenyl ether (DE; ≥99%). 1,8-Octanediol (ODO; ≥98%), and 1,10-decanediol (DDO; ≥99%) were acquired from Acros Organics (Geel, Belgium). Dimethyl 2,5-furandicarboxylate (DMFDCA; ≥99%) was obtained from Fluorochem (Lodz, Poland). Dilinoleic diol (DLD; ≥96.5%) (trade name: Pripol™ 2033) was obtained from Cargill Bioindustrials (Gouda, The Netherlands). Chloroform (≥98.5%) was purchased from Chempur (Piekary Slaskie, Poland) and methanol (≥99.8%) was purchased from Stanlab (Lublin, Poland). Candida antarctica lipase B (CAL-B) covalently immobilized on polyacrylate beads (300–500 µm; ≥95%, Fermase CALB™ 10 000), with a nominal activity of 10 000 PLU per g (propyl laurate units per gram dry weight) was acquired from Fermenta Biotech Ltd, Mumbai and Enzyme Catalyzed Polymers LLC (Akron, OH, USA). Before use, CAL-B was pre-dried under vacuum for 24 h at 40 °C, and diphenyl ether was stored over 4 Å molecular sieves. The rest of the chemicals were used as received.
